WHO IS FUEGO FIT LATINA?
Hola, Amigas!
My name is Elizabeth Laguna Rocha and I am a woman of Faith, Love, and Compassion. I am a mother of 4 beautiful children, my daughters Mone Desiree and Jazmine Bella, and my sons, Luciano & Santino. I am happily married to my fun-loving & down to earth husband for 18 years. My husband and I dated for about 2 years before getting married, so the last 20 years have been one heck of a ride filled with love, laughter, hardships, but most of all many, many great memories of raising a family, traveling, purchasing our first home together, traveling around the world, and much more. I enjoy dancing, traveling, reading a great book, working out, listening to music, hanging out at the beach with my family, going for walks, becoming one with nature, and most of all, I LOVE to share my passion for cooking.
I graduated from CSU Bakersfield with my Bachelor's in Sociology and minor in Criminal Justice. Shortly, thereafter I graduated with my Master's in School Counseling. I have worked in Education since the age of 19 and EMPOWERING others to achieve their goals in life has always been MY passion. In January of 2013, I was introduced to Team Beachbody where my husband and I began our journey with health & fitness. I lost a total of 50 lbs, gained some muscle, competed in my first Physique Competition, ran a few 5k's and ran my first 1/2 Marathon all within my first two years of choosing a healthier LIFESTYLE (I am NOT a runner). These past eight years have been some of my best years and I have been able to give more of myself to my family, to my team, to my fit sisters, and my community because I made the decision to make my health a priority. I am a full-time Wellness Coach, Latina Leader for the County of Kern and High School Counselor. I have found a balance in life to do the things that bring my life so much happiness and purpose, while EMPOWERING the working woman to create a life she loves in my Fuego Fit University virtual communities.
I am an only daughter (I have 3 amazing brothers) and ever since I can remember, I have been around food or cooking it. My mother migrated to the U.S in search of work more than 40 years ago, and she found herself cooking for work, then it became her passion. She experimented with foods and spices, and gradually created her own masterpieces with food. I would have to say she definitely passed her passion for cooking down to me. Food has always been the center of family gatherings with the traditional large Hispanic family gatherings during holidays, birthdays, summers, reunions, and much more. I have always enjoyed cooking and there is nothing more rewarding to me than to prepare a delicious meal for my family and friends.
So, my hope is that through my recipes, you will be able to share the same happiness that has surrounded my family for many, many years, through your own creations. Thank you for joining me on this Love of Food journey and for welcoming me into your kitchens.
Your Hermana in Health,
Elizabeth
